Make Sure You Get The Best Massage Ever

Do you want to make sure you are getting the best massage? Is it your first time getting a massage? Or maybe you have received a massage before but are wondering how to really get the most of it. Here are a few tips on how to really enjoy and get the most out of your next massage visit.

To begin, make sure you are on time. There is nothing more stressful than setting up an appointment, being late and then feeling worried that you may lose your spot. Just be on time, and if you feel like you’re going to be late call and let them know. Don’t start your massage feeling stressed out.

Try not to eat before getting a massage. The American Massage Therapy Association suggests letting your body digest your meal before getting a massage. It doesn’t feel great getting a massage on a full stomach.

Undress to a comfortable level. The therapists will give you privacy when undressing. The therapists will knock on the door before entering to make sure you are ready. If you feel uncomfortable undressing all the way or want to keep clothing on, make sure to wear clothing that will feel comfortable as they massage. The therapists use a sheet that is used to drape your body and only parts that are being massaged will be uncovered. If you feel uncomfortable let the therapist know. Massages are meant to make you feel relaxed. You should not feel stressed or tense.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “communication is key?” The phrase is absolutely true. Make sure to let the front desk know where you want the focus of the massage to be. Let them know about any injuries or issues that they may need to be cautious of while massaging you. Let them know if you have any allergies to oils, lotions or scents. Communicate with your therapist during the massage if the pressure is too hard or too soft. Do not feel as though you cannot tell them what is wrong, they are there to help you and make you feel relaxed.

Breathe during your session and drink plenty of water afterwards. During the massage session, do not forget to breathe. If you find yourself holding your breath or unable to keep your thoughts quiet, follow the therapists strokes. This will help you focus on relaxing. After a massage session you may feel dehydrated, drink extra water to help flush out toxins that may have been released during the session.

Keeping these simple tips in mind when going to your next appointment will help ensure that you get the most out of your massage. Know what to expect on your next visit. And remember, drink water, breathe and relax!
